Here is a recipe for simple homemade dog treats! The main ingredient is canned pumpkin. Pumpkin has antioxidants and vitamins c & e, which help reduce cataracts and heart problems. Pumpkin also helps with digestion! It can help with diarrhea and gassy tummies. It can also assist with weight loss, as it’s seen as a healthy filler. I put two spoonfuls of canned pumpkin in my dogs’ food, and they not only love it!
Here is the recipe for NO WHEAT Pumpkin Dog Cookies:
One 15oz can of canned pumpkin (make sure it is PURE pumpkin, NOT spiced pie filling)
3/4 cup of rice cereal (like the type you buy for babies)
1/2 cup of dry powdered milk
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all three ingredients together (mix the rice cereal dry, don’t cook it), roll out and shape into the cookies you want. Bake for 30 minutes, turn the cookies over, and then bake for another 30 minutes.
All of my dogs loved these treats, and they were major hit at a recent rescue fundraiser!
