Did you know female dogs can get mammary tumors (aka breast cancer), and also get what is called a pyometra where their uterus fills up with puss and eventually ruptures and kills the dog? Do you know what can keep these two things from happening to your dog? SPAYING them! Spaying your female pooch not only prevents unnecessary puppies from being born, but it keeps your dog HEALTHY. The average surgery to have a mammary mass removed is $900+. The average emergency spay/pyometra surgery is $1,500.+ The average spay is between $300 - $500, and usually LESS if you get your dog fixed before their first heat. Many animal hospitals now hold LOW COST spay and neuter days for puppies who have yet to go into their first heat cycle. Many local humane societies do the same. So be smart and save you and your dog the grief of these disastrous outcomes from not being spayed.

Novato, CA: Need volunteers to visit/walk/spend time with Diego. Diego is in a nice boarding facility right now while we continue to look for a foster home for him. We are looking for people in the area who would like to get introduced to him and possibly help out by visiting/walking him at the boarding facility. He’s an absolute love. Mowgli and Bailey are brother and sister. Their mom is a brindle Pittie and the dad is unknown. They are 10 months old and the last two out of the litter needing a home. They are tall and lean with a gentle demeanor. Great with other dogs. If interested email SHADOW’S FUND at info@shadowsfund.org

5 month old Delilah was found tied up and abandoned at a gas station in 100+ temperatures. A good samaritan watched and waited for an owner to come back and no one did. She saved this pup’s life but cannot keep her in her apartment. She is very sweet and great with other dogs. Looks like a shepherd mix with maybe a little pittie. If you can adopt or foster Delilah please contact Shadow’s Fund at: info@shadowsfund.org

These 16 week old pups were found near their mom’s body. She had been hit by a car in a rural area outside of Victorville. Locals reported that the pups sat by her body for days. Cars passed and did nothing. Now these lost pups are shelter bound. They lost their mother. Please don’t let them lose their life in the shelter. To inquire about them email oakhillsrealtor@yahoo.com

Meet Bailey! A sweet Pittie/Catahoula mix puppy who is still looking for a home. She was born into Shadow’s Fund, and we still can’t figure out why she hasn’t found her forever home.

A great and easy way to raise funds for your rescue is a bake sale. Include some friendly fuzzy faces, and you’ll have a good turnout with lots of donations! However, many make the mistakes of being sloppy in their baked goods. Don’t be! While you are baking for donations still remember that you are selling to a customer who wants a worthwhile purchase.

Here are some Oreos and pretzel sticks hand dipped in chocolate, decorated, and packaged. These will be sold alongside gourmet cupcakes, cookies, and homemade all natural dog biscuits.

Bernard is resting (with the help of a sedative) but is in pain after surgery to remove the skin cancer from his belly. Our strategy now that the first round of tumors have been remove (another surgery is scheduled in 8 weeks) is to boost his immune system and starve the tumors through the right nutrition program. His medical bills, grocery bill and meds are very expensive. Please help us give Bernard the care he deserves. For 7 years he stood by the side of a homeless man, providing comfort and friendship as they lived life together on the streets. Now its Bernard’s turn to get the comfort and care he gave for so many years. If you can make a donation to our medical fund it would be greatly appreciated.

Bernard is home with his foster family. The vet is optimistic about the outcome after the second surgery is done. The doctor said Bernard had too many tumors to remove in one day, and some were very deep to the point of where he had to go into the abdomen to remove them. However, he doesn’t feel the cancer has spread into Bernard’s lymph nodes, and x-rays taken a few weeks ago showed his lungs to be clear of cancer too. So there is hope as long as we continue aggressive treatment. Poor guy is very uncomfortable and has a few drains in his abdomen to keep any fluid build up from occurring.

You can donate to his care by clicking this link. A big THANK YOU and much appreciation to anyone who does: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=65BAUBV2HDT3U
