If you’re looking for a new family companion, please rescue!

By adopting a shelter pet you are saving a dog or kitty’s life. By going through a rescue you’re opening a space for them to pull another lost soul out of a shelter to be saved. In either case, you are SAVING a life, and not contributing to the United States pet overpopulation problem.

An important thing to remember: When a dog is dropped off at a shelter, you are almost guaranteeing them a death sentence. For bully breeds that chance of euthanasia to make room for other dogs is even higher. There other creative ways of helping re-home your four-legged friend, and Craigslist is NOT one of them. Using social media is a great outlet, especially Facebook. By using Facebook you can post the pet looking for a new home on rescue fan pages! There are awesome ways to network and re-home your dog, instead of dropping it off at a shelter and hoping someone else is kind enough to save its life.

I have always been proud that whenever we have considered getting another animal my kids have ALWAYS wanted to go to the shelter, never the pet shop.
