Great news! Fifi (or Fiona), the Pittie caught in a fence for four days, has been adopted! She and her housemate have been embraced by an awesome and very active family. Congrats to this wonderful girl!

So Michael Vick is writing a book because he has “something to prove.” He also wants to get a dog, “but never another Pit Bull.” Well, here’s what we think of Vick! He should be living the life he deserves - slumming it on the streets like the piece of trash he is. But instead, he is living well off of deep pockets in endorsements and the NFL.

Teddy was rescued from the Shafter shelter last Sunday to save his life. He was scheduled for euthanasia on Monday. We were shocked to learn that the limp in his hind leg was because Teddy had been shot and was still carrying a large bullet that had totally dislocated his hip. He will have surgery next week at UC Davis to remove the bullet and repair his hip. Now we need to find a loving home for this big fella. He is going to need some R&R after his surgery but should recover just fine and be ready to play in no time. Teddy is big sweet heart, great with kids and little dogs. He is guarded around large dogs which may be due to his injury. Contact Shadow’s Fund to learn more or to meet Teddy: info@shadowsfund.org - or go to our website to donate to his care: www.shadowsfund.org

This is Fifi (or Fiona). She is a 4 - 5 year old blue nosed Pittie, who was seized from someone’s house after she was found with her foot stuck in a fence for four days. Yes, for four days her foot was caught in a fence and her owner allowed her to stay that way, until a utility worker saw her and called Animal Services. Fifi was seized along with one other dog, a Lhasa Apso mix who was basically a walking dreadlock. It was obvious neither dog was a priority or given love and attention like they deserved. Fiona was caked in dirt and it’s obvious she has had several litters of puppies.
Fiona was shared on Facebook by Shadow’s Fund as they reached out for a foster to step up. Her story of hanging from a fence by her leg touched so many people, that eventually the local media got involved in their attempt to find her a foster home. As of yesterday Fifi and her little housemate, Micky, were officially signed over to Shadow’s Fund and thanks to so much networking they have a foster eagerly anticipating their arrival and they plan to adopt both dogs.
Micky got the easy end of the deal. After being shaved down he was neutered, and he’s a energetic and happy little dog.
Fiona on the other hand has not done so well. After the swelling of her leg went down it was found that one of her tendons was completely severed, and other tendons were exposed. It’s still questionable if whether or not her leg is even savable because of potential nerve damage. While sweet she has gone through bouts of being depressed and withdrawn, and sometimes needs to coaxing to eat. She wants love and soaks in every bit she gets, but it obvious she is fighting an internal battle. To help her get through her depression both Fifi and Micky are temporarily at my home, so they get constant attention.

Great article by the HSUS about what Pit Bull advocates should do. It also tells how renters who may be affected by BSL laws can take a stand for their canine companion.

Once again, biased and poor “journalism” at its finest. Join the HUNDREDS of others that have stood up and made their voice heard about this article. And SHAME on the B’more Sun for actually publishing such poor writing and absolute trash.
